Trying to lose weight and its just not working? Feeling tired and have no energy or time to accomplish your weight loss goals? You are not alone, but there are options, including supervised medical weight loss which for many people has provided the answer as we will discuss below.
Obesity is at an all time high and so are the number of weight loss programs, supplements and food services out on the market.
Companies like Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers are a few of the most well known weight loss companies that focus on food intake while others such as Insanity and Beach Body use exercise as the main means for weight loss. Supplement companies too are cashing in on the growing epidemic. Companies like IDLife, Herbalife, Advocare and many more like these are flooding the market. Even special diets such as Ketogenic, Atkins and Paleo are also gaining popularity.
So the question is “which one works?” Most consumers like you and I want to know the end result before we spend any money. We want proof that their products will work. Some supplements and weight loss programs are pretty affordable while others cost hundreds of dollars. Wouldn’t it be great if we could know if the program works before we waste our money time and time again?
I often hear people say they have “tried everything” and nothing works. They eat “clean” and exercise, take multivitamins, drink protein shakes and yet they are unable to lose weight or at least lose enough to reach their goals. Even when they do reach their goals, they have a hard time keeping the weight off.
The truth is that many weight loss programs work. In fact, for the most part, they can all be effective. However, whether it is due to non-compliance, underlying health issues or undiagnosed medical conditions, it is important to understand that not every weight loss program is going to work for every individual and the results are highly dependent upon the efforts of that individual.
The question is: what exactly contributes to obesity or being overweight? Diet and exercise are of course the top two on the list that most people know, but there are other factors that play into it – Genetics, age, hormones, medications, stress, sleep (quality and quantity) and of course diet and exercise. So more importantly, we should ask ourselves, what are the other factors that could be contributing. Knowing what is effective for you is understanding what is uniquely contributing to your weight gain. Is it too many calories, not enough activity, hormone imbalance, food allergies/sensitivities or something else?
To answer this question, start by having a conversation with your doctor or possibly a practitioner that specializes in weight loss or weight management. They can guide you in the right direction and get to the root cause. Whatever the reason is for your weight gain or inability to lose weight, it all boils down to behavior changes and consistency.
